Sympathy cards can be hard to make especially when you need one. I like to have a few ready to go in my crafty hallmark shop when I need to mail one out. One of the things I love about card making is we can create a truly unique card for the recipient tailored to their likes. Unity has the best selection of pet images, so many to choose from the Rescue Tales Stamps are perfect for your pet loving friends. Unity Stamp Company is a Company Partner of MustStash. The entire Unity collection is searchable. You can search for the perfect image and sentiment to make a custom card when you need it. Unity’s Collection has been curated with images, product data including all the sentiments and “tags” allowing everyone to find Unity products they need to add to their stash and wishlist. Your entire stash is on your phone, tablet and computer and auto syncs every time you make a change. Baxter is one of my favorites. I love his expression and how easy he is to color, the detail of the stamp does all the work for you. The rainbow bridge is a beautiful poem associated with our beloved pets when they pass. I thought it would be fun to use both rainbow ink blending and texture of a rainbow embossing folder to add that imagery to the card. This idea is easily adaptable to any pet images and rainbow products in your stash. Here are a few tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years used for this card. 1. Stamp your image in a Misti. use alcohol friendly ink. 2. Color you image. Stamp again over the top of the colored image with Versafine Clair 3. My favorite “paper” to use with embossing folders is 120 pound watercolor paper Below is the original poem that inspired my card The Rainbow Bridge by Edna Clyne-Rekhy (written 1959) Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge... When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, your pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and friends are warm and comfortable... All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and strength, those who were hurt are made better and strong again, like we remember them before they go to heaven... They are happy and content except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance, his bright eyes are shineing (sic), his body shakes... Suddenly he begins to run from the herd, rushing over the grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cuddle in a happy hug never to be apart again... You and your pet are in tears. Your hands again cuddle his head and you look again into his trusting eyes, so long gone from life, but never absent from your heart, and then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...
