I created an alien themed card for my son who was having an Alien Escape Party for his birthday. I gravitated to the Whimsy Stamps Puzzle Pieces Die for this make. It's a mini slimline size, so I created the rest of the card with this canvas size in mind. I made the Slimline Card base from the new Moonflower Cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. The lovely lavender tone worked nicely with the hues in the gorgeous Whimsy Slimline paper. This is a page from the Lost In Space Slimline Paper Pack. I loved the blue and purple hues in this and coloured the aliens to work with this palette. I backed their diecuts with a strip of black cardstock to give them eery dark eyes. I puzzle pieced the background in, over strips of double sided adhesive, I swapped that top puzzle piece out for one I diecut from silver glitter cardstock and lay the puzzle piece over top as if the aliens were breaking through, perhaps from another dimension?! I was thinking of the kids in their Alien Escape Room busting through the door at the end, having solved all the puzzles, so was trying to capture that in this design. The aliens needed something behind them to break up the pattern as their colours were too close to the background, so I pulled out another mini slimline die and diecut one of these 'bursts' in the silver glitter cardstock to add behind them. I love how this turned out, it was the perfect fix to mute that busier background behind them. The burst comes from the Mini Slim Pickens 2 Die. I used a fun sentiment from the ExtraTerrestrial Clear Stamp Set. I think it was a fun finish for this design, I added a little strip of silver glitter cardstock behind each strip, which I offset slightly. Love how that looks on this card. I did pop up the sentiments on foam strips for a little dimension and interest, because the rest of the design is quite flat. Though I did add a little dimension behind the aliens heads so it looks like they're popping out of the card. One of the birthday pressies we gave our son was a steam voucher, though when I say a voucher, it was a promise that dad would put money on his account, so I made a voucher as a promise of that. I used a really cool Whimsy Stamps ticket die from one of their recent releases to make the voucher. I diecut the ticket shape from black cardstock and some lettering from white cardstock. I used the Whimsy Stamps xoxo die to add under the word steam, which is the name of the platform we were buying our boy the credit on. The cogs, lettering and numbers are from Sizzix die sets.
